HTML structure

Simplify the HTML structure of your emailing campaigns

Why?

  • To improve your deliverability rates
  • To avoid anti-spam filters
  • To improve rendering across more email clients
  • The more of your customers that receive and can read your message the better your conversion rate

How?

Do’s

  • Code emails as valid HTML 4.01, not XHTML
  • Include safelisting advice, usually at the top of your email
  • Build emails using ‘tables’
  • Use inline style attributes or HTML tags like <font> to format your design
  • Design with multiple scenarios in mind, e.g. images off, preview pane view, etc.

Don’ts

  • Avoid using Cascading Style Sheets as these will not work across all browsers
  • Do not use Javascript or any other scripting code
  • Do not insert HTML Comments e.g. <!-- Comment -- >
  • Do not send out single image emails.
  • Needless to say avoid words and styles that have a Spammy connection
